Why take a GRE exam?

I looking into going back to school and getting my Masters in History, but there is no way I could pass the GRE exam so I am looking into finding a graduate program that does not require the GRE and boy there are not many. Why does anyone need to take any standardized test for a graduate program let alone just to get into University I was lucky with my BA. All these tests do is stress out a prospective student who does not need any more stress in their lives. No more GRE., ACT, SAT exams stop them now. Does anyone know of a history graduate program that has no required GRE exam?

There are schools that will waive GRE, if you are trying to find such school, it might not be located near the place you live. But, go and talk to GRad school when you plan to apply.
